DR500 tank choice
« on: June 18, 2015, 10:31:10 pm »
I am refurbishing a1981 DR500, bought for $100, it was a runner but in a sorry state.
The tank was missing and replaced with a Kawasaki tank that did not fit.
I am finding original DR tanks are are rare commodities. Does anyone have any suggestions for alternatives?
I am not looking do do a 100% DR rebuild, but a serviceable play bike, but I still want it to look decent.

It is the same tank as SP500 in USA/Can so look over there.

When I had my dr500 , the 84rm 500
Tanks fits it , but they are prob hard to find to .

In the end I ran the yz 125 alloy tank on it like the hl500 use
You see these pop up on eBay in the states but can be a bit dear , because lots of guys run them on Tt,xt500 bikes.

Thanks for the suggestions,

lucky for me, I found a tank in really good shape, corrosion free, just needs repainting
