XR80 Forks

Just playin around with a older XR80 and want to give it a bit more travel, Iv heard that CT110 fork stanchions are the go??  Can anyone confirm this?........I now there are plenty of minibike fans out there

I cut and shut early XL/SL 100/125 triples ( It is easy grind of the centre pole at the base where it's welded ,cut down pole to length, re-weld  then put their stanchions or CT125/200 leading axles ones in . Same axle, adjust spacers....
Here's one I prepared earlier (OK it is an SL70 with SL100 set) also that is a 17inch CT110 front wheel instead of the 16inch for a bit more, (The engine is a 150cc Chinka Lifan ,they just bolt in!)

Thats a cool looking fun bike. Are they still 27mm forks or 31mm?

31mm Curtis,  Bike was made from spare parts laying about my sheds. Except for the Chonda engine which cost $239 complete delivered. Total cost including engine and consumables used in construction  $271 give or take 50cents           Finished it , rode it twice ,was indeed a lot of fun.    Cheers                                          Sold it on Ebay....

Awsome, love the budget builds. Those engines are stupidly cheap, and not that bad. Iv also got a XL100s with 31mm forks of a early xr200 works well.

I have a 74 XR75 with late model CT110 forks, They are 27mm & approx 650mm from axle centre to flush with the top triple clamp in length, they went straight in & are longer than the stockers in the uppers but the bottoms are the same length so no more travel as such but they are good for balancing the ride height if you have jacked up the rear like I have, From about 95 on CT110's come with the better forks,the earlier ones had an external spring which rubbed on the chrome stuffing it in no time flat, The later have an internal spring so much better, a quick way to tell the difference is the later jobs have no drain screws
