1976 KTM MC5 250 Build
« on: February 22, 2015, 06:53:08 pm »
Some of the build so far:
How i bought it ! Great photo, but nothing like it was in real life!!!

How it turned up once shipped, apparently they had an issue with something that didn't match the paperwork and had to pull it down and put it on a pallet. Axles lost, brake rods bent etc etc. Wasn't impressed.

The close and longer i looked at this it looked like the frame and motor was sandblasted and repainted in the frame. On pulling the engine down confirmed this. Yes it was fitted wit ha brand new piston, but the sand and grit scored the shit out of it...Couldn't trust one thing on this, so full rebuild was coming.

Ignition in and setup...

Carby built and installed....

Yeah she is coming along alright. Will be throwing some oil in it, bolting on a pipe an give her a test start this weekend when Bill Campbell comes to visit...

I bought a rebuild kit (minus shafts), but haven't installed them. They have damping and seem to not be leaking. Will pull them down and inspect them.
What size shafts does your kit have?
