I still reckon this front tyre business is really intriguing. I've seen every sort of tyre imaginable put to use and nearly everyone reckons something different. Intermediate, hard, soft, trail, you name it. I am running a Dunlop MX52 and it seems pretty good, plenty of other guys on it too. I also have a Dunlop MX71 (soft tyre, for a hard track) on my 1980 RM250 and it works much better than the 52 at Canberra (deco surface). But there are even guys at Canberra who swear by Michelin S12s! A tall block hard tyre, exactly the opposite of what you'd expect is needed.
To be honest I suspect anything at all is fine - if you ride hard enough it probably don't matter really.
