Radiator repairs
« on: January 31, 2015, 09:13:20 am »
Can anyone recommend a decent bike friendly radiator repairer in brisbane?

My left cr250 radiator is a slightly bent out of shape, it's not leaking or anything, just want to get it tidied up a little.

Hi Jim, i know you have probably thought about it but have you considered replacement rads from GPI or Winner.  They are less than a hundred bucks Oz delivered.  You can keep your OEM ones on the shelf for the concourse restore but use the aftermarket ones for racing.  They are all tig welded, good quality and good price.  In Australia, i bet it would cost more to get your 1 radiator straightened.  And then it will still be an old radiator.  Not sure what year your bike is but here is an example for $80 US delivered.  http://www.ebay.com/itm/GPI-ALUMINUM-RADIATOR-HONDA-CR250R-CR-250R-CR250-CR-250-1990-1991-90-91-/251421976583?pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&hash=item3a89eae807&vxp=mtr
I have some for my 83 YZ125K and they look great.  Beats having my twisted and old OEM ones on there although i will keep them on the shelf.
Cheers,
Alex

I considered these, I've heard a few mixed reports about hole alignment is all. Your right though they are cheap for what you get.

The bikes a 96.

These ones are from Winner for $95 for the pair delivered.  http://www.ebay.com/itm/WINNER-RACING-R-L-ALUMINUM-ALLOY-RADIATOR-HONDA-CR250R-1992-1993-1994-1995-1996-/110772050426?pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&hash=item19ca8759fa&vxp=mtr

I sent my originals to China for GPI to reverse engineer so i got a set back that fits great.  Maybe some people on the forums can comment on the CR fitment.  At least its another option and they also do silicon hose kits that eliminate all the joints.  GPI made me up a set in yellow for free as i sent them my old hoses and they reverse engineered those as well.

Cheers,
Alex

I fitted a set of their rads to my sons 85. Excellent value for money. Much heavier than stock, but are made from much thicker ali. Only concern would be all the welded joins, but no dramas yet after 18months racing. They also have a larger top and bottom tank over stock.
