New Guy from Brisbane
« on: May 24, 2014, 08:35:38 am »
Hi Guys,

Joined up a couple of months ago have being busy with change of job and finishing a couple of projects.
Will be looking to post some progress reports of my current build HondaMT125.
I know it's not the favourite of many due to under power but I go for the under dog and love a challenge.

Cheers

Michael

Greetings Michael. The best part about being an underdog is you have no pressure or expectations to live up. Poor ol' MT's have copped a bit of a bagging but eh..some of my most memorable fun times were on a CT90  ;D

I may not agree with what you have to say, but I'll defend to the death your right to say it.

Hi Guys,

Sorry time passed and then it's a year later.
Well the project stalled, work ruled life and other projects took all the money.

Thought I would post some pic's here of the updates as I not sure were best to start, except where I left off.

I am looking to put a build thread up with some things I picked up along the way that might be of use to anyone looking to follow in a similar footstep. This is my second bike build and after a bit of research and encouragement from some local guys I am going to dive back into dirt bike after the limited exposure in my youth.

Anyway all that can wait till I start up a different thread, in the meantime here is a quick snapshot of the beginning recent progress.

Picked out the back of Stanthorpe 3hrs west of Brisbane:

After a wash down... so much crud!

current rolling chassis

rebuild of engine with cr125 barrel/head, reed valve adapted and vm36mikuni, waiting on a geoff morris exhaust and air box, modified squish and ports.

Bit of a frankenstein but let me know what you think?

Also thank you for all the replies of encouragement!

Cheers
Michael

Last one.... front head light will not be there for now. Running CR125 CDI, coil and stator... this is includes the Honda CB750K1 in foreground for anyone into that sort of thing.  ;)

I had a mt125 back in 1975 and had a ball on. Been looking for one myself but 125's don't come up for sale much around Brisbane. I'm amazed how good yours is coming along. Keep the photos coming, everyone is restoring later model mx'ers these days good to see an old tin tank restoration for a change!

Thanks maca60  ;D

Installed the engine, the chain guide/tensioner from ebay and few bits and pieces on the week end.
