1974 CR125M Rear Exhaust Hanger Alternative or Lead on Original
« on: December 12, 2014, 10:40:13 am »
Hi Guys,

Just wondering if anyone has an alternative to the standard rear exhaust hanger bracket.  The original one is missing from my bike and the previous owner created a dodgy alternative that has since broken.  Even pictures of what it is supposed to look like would help a lot - I may be able to make something.  I've got  GMC pipe on mine, but I'm pretty sure Geoff would have made it to suit the standard bracket.  What ever it is needs to be rubber mounted - because a solid connection definitely doesn't work.

Thanks in advance for your help fellas.

Looking for YZ250C parts NOS if possible

The only triple jumps he would have been doing are the hop, skip & jump.

Part #3 Tony,

18353-357-010.  Bracket Expansion

MCS & many others have aftermarket rubber bonded to steel hanger brackets that are similar but need a bit if tweaking to fit, looking at it from a side profile it is offset, the lower part has a molded in rubber isolator, you can also make something similar out of a flat bar & a rubber isolator from your local bearing shop, they usually have a good range of types & sizes :)

You're giving up on the fencing wire Tony?

I'd reckon an old "tent peg" would do the trick.
;)
betterer than fencing wire...

Thanks Smed for the info and suggestions.  I reckon I will have a go at making a "robust" one myself.

Turns out you only get about half a lap out of fencing wire.  Double fencing wire gets about 3/4 of a lap  :o :o

I had considered a tent peg, but thought I'd save those for finding water where you'd least expect it in drought conditions 8)

Use your countershaft sprocket cover. It has several pre-drilled holes to suit many lengths. This way you will solve two problems at once ;D
