There is a proposed event in Taupo for 30th of jan 1st of feb 2015 . It is being organised by VMX enthusiast and vintage trials promoter Robert Cochrane . Robert has run some very cool VMX events over the last decade usually geared towards the older bikes .

I dont think the Classic dirt name should be associated with the event out of respect to the memory of Ray Ryan who concieved the phenonomem we all know as classic dirt and the current owners/promoters of those events.

For all the good there is about VMX in NZ i dont believe that the NZ VMX community would get behind an event like the Classic dirt events we know and love the way the Aussie VMX community do.

Im sure this event will be great and i am happy to offer Robert any support or help with the event (its being held 5 mins from my house) but if classic dirt NZ is the proposed name of the event then IMHO thats the first thing that needs changing  .

Not sure what the event will be called but i understand it will have either a pre 78 or Evo cut off and be a non competitive event and run paralell with the historic  road race meeting .

Will pass on further details as i find out .

That's a pity. Sorry to hear that. Great venue at a great time of the year. Here's hoping he may do it in the future.
