A sad reminder
« on: December 03, 2014, 05:04:03 pm »
Events over the last week have touched the cricket & wider communities with the all too early & tragic passing of another great young Aussie champion. Today the small NSW country town of Macksville has farewelled their local hero & no doubt a loss to all but felt so hard there.

Personally having been to Macksville (albiet only once) it reminded me of a similar tragedy that touched the Motorcycling community some years ago & another small country town in Keith SA, the loss of Andy Caldecott. I didnt know him, but knew of him, as he was a few years younger than I but I rode at his home town track at Keith several times.

It prompted me to do something that I always wanted to do, as I pass by Keith with regularity & that is to stop & take photos of his memorial to share with those of you who have never seen or been able to visit it.

Apologies for some of the pics being upside down etc but the best I could do. No doubt there are some of you whose names are on the memorial pavers or people you will know & sorry if this has been done previously before my forum time but still a nice reflection on another champion lost :)

Andy was a top bloke off the bike and fast and smooth on it made the TM400 look mellow

Thanks Bazza , I just got sent this link and excellent and so true thoughts, I still talk to Trace and the kids about every month and Davee Schwarz, and we are doing some special things in March next Year, which all will find out about.

Stay Safe all and be good on the Roads and get 2015 with a Smile.

You're spot on Digga.
It's a sad time for the cricket community and the family of the young player who lost his life. (I am so sorry but I can't remember his name, as I am one of the few who do not follow cricket at all, my apologies.)
It is interesting though with the vast media coverage of his passing.
Its 'funny'  but I asked my mum and brother if they knew who Andy Caldecott and Andrew McFarlane are.  They didn't of course, and I told them that these young guys represented Australia for a fairly long time, and had their lives cut short too, but had little media coverage of their passing.
Just as well we all remember them for the champions they were.

Oh yeah something I forgot to let you know and totally unplanned is Andy's VMX # was 11, and on this memorial its 3d with the Laser Cut Aluminium in front and at the right light and particularly and night you see the shadow to create it from his # 1.

All of us went back at Night to check it out and we were in Awe, Trace and the kids too.

One day I will work out how to do or add pics, all my Book Face sorry.

Stay Safe.

Regards Rosco
