Tech advice- need 'silicon' with exhaust flange?

Hi guys,
I have just put a new exhaust flange gasket on my RM125 B. Not easy lining up the holes but got it done.
I noticed remnants of black silicon that came off the flange area. Should I have added 'hi temp silicon' or will the gasket alone be okay?
Don't you love the way I ask all these naive questions to make you feel good when you respond

You may want to consider some high temp exhaust silicone around the expansion chamber at the exhaust flange and pipe to muffler joints.  I do it on my Maico now and it stops the exhaust leaks there.
