On Thursday afternoon, I came out of the local police station and struck up a conversation with a guy who was checking out my 1978 390 Auto that was in the back of my ute (I had just had an ID check done on it for registration in preparation for Harrow).
Like many people. he was surprised to find out that there was such a thing as a competition dirt bike with an automatic transmission. I told him that Husqvarna made them over a period of about 13 years from the mid 1970 through to the late 1980's, how ever very few were imported into Australia, especially in the early years.
Since then I have been wondering how many Auto actually did get brought into Australia. I did a bit of an internet search last night to see if there was anything on the net about production numbers of the various models but found nothing. I an now interested in knowing how many of the variours models of Auto came to Australian, and especially how many 1978 390 AMX's. I bought mine new in 1978 through John Harris Imports.
Does anyone here have any sources that might know how many auto actually came to Australia?
