PE400 brake pedal pivot bolt
« on: April 22, 2014, 11:14:57 am »
Has anyone got a brake pedal for a PE400 (I think 250 is the same), I'm chasing the machined bolt that the pedal pivots on.
They are no longer available from Suzuki.
Part # 09101-08012
I found one on EBAY US, but it's $40 US delivered. ($15 bolt + $25 del) and it's a bit ratty.......
Bit rich considering they were only $8 new................

Cheers
Neil

It's a special bolt Stewy, fitted into a bush with a couple of O rings and washers.
I think it's an 8mm bolt, stepped down with a 6mm thread?
Could be wrong though.............. :-\

Made up a bronze bush along with a new bolt 3 weeks ago, as the pedal had too much side play. worked a treat.
As a guide for split pin hole I used 2 nuts, one I drilled the hole in to be used as a guide and the other was to lock it in place ;)
Just checked it's a Std bolt  8 X 1.25

Nothing special about that bolt. Mine broke off during disassembly. It was an 8mm bolt threaded all the way from memory. Because the bolt comes in from the inside no one will see what kind of bolt is used anyway.
Let's face it some dirt bikes were never meant to be ridden.

Get the guys at the QR machine shop to turn you up a few.

Good thing about having a lathe at home......

Yes Pete, sometimes I really miss working at the workshops across the road from where I am now.
The welding, machining, sandblasting, painting, sheet metal work, scrap steel, nuts and bolts............  :'(
BTW are you and Ed heading up to Echo Valley on the weekend?
