1988 DR750
« on: April 13, 2014, 06:37:15 pm »
I know this isn't VMX or even Vinduro, but I achieved a bit of a milestone today and something I hoped might happen for the last 15 years.
I bought this bike new in 1988 and then bought it back a while ago.
Long story short, because it's a bit unique, I've had to have parts made and it's soaked up a heap of time and money.
But today made it all worthwhile.....

Truth be told, it originally had no decompressor and I always ran it like that. But when I tried to start it this time, I couldn't do it. I got a cough out of it and a really tired leg, but that was all.  ::) I would have thought being 20kg heavier than when I last owned it, would have helped!  ;)
Anyway, I pulled the rocker cover this morning and fitted a decomp before starting the video.  ;D ;D ;D

And yes, it did bring back some memories.
Lots to do before it's ready to ride, but with a few variables in the engine build, I wanted to be able to relax and know that was good before throwing more money at it.  :(

Do ya reckon it's too loud?  :o

I may not agree with what you have to say, but I'll defend to the death your right to say it.
