AMC Gearbox - clutch rod

Just looking for some old time expert knowledge. Trying to finish off my long tracker which is running an amc gearbox. On disassembling I have 3 rods actuating the clutch. All are just a touch over 6mm  in width, which I figure would be quarter inch in imperial. The rod sitting closet to the actuator arm is 6 1/2 in length with the shorter rod sitting against  outer clutch plate/cover and is 2 5/8 in length with a  quarter inch small piece of rod (not a ball bearing) but it looks very similar (same?) to the roller bearings in the old clutch big bearing that the clutch hub rides on. I have replaced the old steel clutch  ( as the major backing plate was not serviceable ) with second hand scandic which I'll need to source a clutch rod mushroom type I believe.
Have tried to surf the net for a parts/schematic drawing but came up with zip.
Do I have the right length rods? Should it have a ball bearing not short rod in the middle? Would it matter? If the new mushroom rod is longer what's the best way to 'trim' the rod?

My brother just finished a full rebuild on my gearbox and we dealt with Mike. Good service etc.
For what it's worth the rod in my gearbox was a 2 piece.
Also worth looking at is a site ,......Jampot Norton AMC gearbox overhaul with Mike Hemmings.

As Mark said, Rosco, talk to the lads he mentioned, best I could find on the web was, http://www.500race.org/Reference/The%20Norton%20Clutch.pdf, but no clutch pushrod info.

mine have had a ball between the 2 segments rather than a roller,also a larger captive ball in the pressure plate "freeplay"adjuster,a nonscientific method  of shortening pushrod is with cutoff blade in angle grinder,oxy the tip red,& plunge/quench in old engine oil ,works for me  ,

Thanks guys will have a play. It's a bastard when you move. When in Mackay I could ask someone who would talk to someone or tell me to talk to someone in the British bike Club. Have tried to talk with the British Bike shop guys in Deeshon st Brissy but haven't had a great deal of success there. Will follow the contacts.

As Matchy said, I sorta remember a 1/4 inch ball between the pushrod segments but it's been 30 years !! also similar setup on the old Rotrax's clutch, a bit of cut and shut was required !!
