1985 CR 500 carb question
« on: June 14, 2008, 10:36:42 am »
Gudday all, I just need to sample the collective knowledge pool a little...
I've finally tracked down and received a cylinder for my 1985/86 water cooled cr500, had the rear shock rebuilt, front forks rechromed, frame powder coated, cracks in swingarm tig welded, plastics from DC plastics and sourced a minty pipe. No more excuses, time to start building. But I haven't got a carb for it.
Anyone know what the carb for the 1985 1986 husky cr500 was? I'm pretty sure it was a 40mm Mikuni but was it round slide (VM series) or flat slide (TM series) Anyone got any jetting specs for the same?
Obtaining a carb is not too difficult, but knowing the baseline jetting specs would be a good thing.

Fatboy checkout www.halls-cycles.com/Catalog/Halls-Cycles-Husqvarna.aspx  They have the parts manuals for many of the old Huskys.  It looks like the 85 CR 500 used a 40mm round slide Mikuni with a 2.5 slide, 350 mainjet, 55 pilot jet, 7DH3 needle, 07 airjet.  You can see this on page E12 of the manual.  Cheers Steve
