Mt. Tarrengower to host world's best Trial riders
April 01, 2014
Kyle Middleton Australia's premier Moto Trial Rider will compete against the best in the world
With the FIM World Trial Championship (WTC) less than two weeks away, excitement is building around Mt. Tarrengower for the second visit of the premier international Trial tournament.
2012 was the year Australia first hosted a WTC round and in 2014 the action returns to Maldon for the opening round on April 12-13.
Last years’ WTC winner Toni Bou returns to Mt. Tarrengower for the second time, he dominated the Australian outback course in 2012 finishing ahead of his Spanish countrymen Adam Raga and Albert Cabastany on day one and on day two he finished in top spot over Jeroni Farjado and Japans’ Takahisa Fujinami.
This time around, all of Bou’s competitors will be trying desperately to take first over the seemingly unbeatable Spaniard, it will certainly make for an exciting spectacle to see the world’s best on Australian soil.
Recently crowned 2014 FIM X-Trial World Champion in his home country, Bou certainly comes in to the WTC as a deserved hot favourite.
Current Australian Trial Champion Kyle Middleton will lead the local challenge, arguably the best Trial rider in the country, Middleton will certainly have his work cut out for him against the international riders.
Middleton competed in nine of the 10 WTC rounds last year, a phenomenal effort considering the trips to international rounds were largely self-funded and working fulltime between rounds leaves him a small amount of training time compared to the top five riders in world.
Having the opening round on home soil will undoubtedly be a boost for the Newcastle local, he finished 16th in last year’s WTC that included a handful of finishes in the top 10 over the nine rounds he competed in.
The WTC kicks off on April 12, online ticket sales are now closed, tickets are still available at the gate, for more information head to
