Preston Petty Sealed Beam

Would anyone know of a reasonably priced replacement for the 6 volt sealed beam in a Preston Petty headlight?
It's about 4" in diameter but I'm happy to cut, shut and modify as needed.

I've found a 12v replacement but not a 6v. Improve your electrics Tony!

Nope, but did you know a lid from a tin of "s26 gold" baby formula fits perfectly over the light housing as a cover to protect your lamp??!!! Or even just to finish off the item if you don't have a light fitted. Just a lil fun fact  ;D ;)

It's got a sealed beam in it, so it looks the part, but it's blown.

12 volts, Paul? I heard that they make bikes with 12 volts electrics these days, but I didn't believe it.........  :-\

Tony,i thought they (PP) were all 12v,all of mine have been,been thinking to check the fancier ride on mowers??,(cheapies have tailite globes :o), :P

 UFO make a universal  105mm ( approx. 4") plastic lens unit  P/N ME08076. 
  Not sealed beam so you could   fit suitable  6v globe.

I spoke to Paul at Hodaka a few years ago regarding this as they handle the PP products now. It seems there are no 6 volt sealed units. The 12 volt lamp is similar / same as some small tractor / lawn tractor units. So I guess if you have the time (inclination) then start trawling the lawn tractor sites.
I gave up as I found a NOS front light set-up for my Husky.

Yes, the one I have would be 12V, but the bike is 6V so that's what I'm after.
Good idea about lawn tractors. I shall investigate.  :)

those back up lighting systems you see in stores etc could be 6 volt but would only be a single beam and of floodlight type spead, same goes for ride on mowers

I'm going 12V now. Just works out easier.
What sort of light it is doesn't matter. Hopefully, it will never have to be used to actually see where I'm going.  ;D

ok then but use a 12v AC voltage regulator then,they can be sorced from xl600 maybe xl250/350 as well

Being impatient (and poor), I ended up cutting the back out of the original sealed beam and fitted a 60/55 globe and holder.
Top it off with  a 12V reg off an old 610 Husky and a switch block from an XT550 and I've now got lights!
And good lights too!  8)

It did take while to get working though, cos the brand new fuse holder had an open circuit inside the moulded bit!  >:(

Thanks again for all the advice. I didn't follow any of it.........  ::)
