Hopetoun GP event

Hi Guys, has this been on the radar here or have I missed any posts previous?? (lights are on, nobody home ...)

this will be a ball tearor of an event ;D

Hopetoun GP Desert Rally: June 1.

A recreation of the original Sunraysia/Hattah BP Desert Rallies of the early 1970s and the Hopetown GP in the USA. Located in the North West Wimmera town of Hopetoun, 385 ks from the CBD,

This event will be unusual as its starting in the main street of the town, 4 bikes per 30 seconds with a running engine ‘rope start’. Naturally, all riders will have to be licenced and the bikes ‘Red Plated’, fully road registered or riders can apply to VERi for an ‘Unregistered Vehicle Permit’. (See details below). Bikes will have to be scrutineered (lights, noise, legalities etc) on the Saturday and impounded overnight and no pre running of the course is permitted.

There will be a dinner put on by the town on the Sat night.

The course itself (designed by Dave ‘Beaky’ Murray and Bernie Leen) runs over public roads, a section of Parks Land and four farming properties. Minimum length is about 60ks which will go pretty fast at the speeds attainable. There will be some tight scrub but mostly dry to very sandy sections.

Jetting will be critical so if in doubt, go rich.

There are no team awards, just finisher pins and a lap count with Route Checks to make sure you are on the right track.

Ample camping is available and accommodation details will be forthcoming.

VERi will be donating funds towards the local institutions as we always have done with our events.

This straight from the VERI website....

anyone got some CR sliders and damper rods for 40mm husky forks.....
