New and old Harley short trackers on vft.org
« on: December 05, 2013, 10:41:03 am »
Ironic that the first and last H-D singles show up on the same day for the same price. The Buell Blast is essentially a 500cc 'half a Harley' single using 1000 Sporty components. The road version was a floperoo and, one would assume the racer was equally a failure. It's pretty doubtful that it would have been anything near competitive against the Rotax singles, let alone the Jap 450's. However it's a rare bit of kit and there are 2k worth of P&M wheels and 2k worth of C&J rolling frame.
The old bike is a 350 Harley Sprint (Aermacchi) short tracker which ironically was Harley Davidsons first attempt at the single cylinder division. They apparently work very well on the dirt and are pretty popular in US vintage dirt track.

Buell Blast Dirt Tracker. 1 of 17 C&J framed bikes. A part of dirt track history. C&J frame, f4 forks, Penske Shock, 3 Spoke PM Wheels, Brembo Brake, Weiss Clamps, Afam Bars, 515cc Nallin Kit with best after market valve train goodies, Titanium valves, Texter H-D custom clutch cover, 44hp. Comes with hand held starter. extra stock primary cover, extra carb, pvl ignition and what ever stock bits we have. We are rather certin this is C&J frame #3 of the 17 that they made. I've confirmed this with C&J on the phone about 2 years ago. I (along with many others) helped assemble it when Pete started this project. This bike was the project of Pete Giammalvo of Sideways Promotions. We'd like to see go to a good home or museum. Pick up in North Central Ma. Selling for Pete's Widow sorry no trades.Tony                                [email protected]
