It's a little misleading, throwing that Rickman Bultaco ad into the photo mix. The bike is not a Rickman Metisse, it's a vastly inferior Bultaco M11 frame which is not only twice the weight of a genuine Rickman Metisse frame, it's also extremely prone to fatigue cracks which I assume would be even worse with a Trumpy motor. How do I know so much? I built an identical bike back in the late 90's and only abandoned the project when I got tired of the Bultaco Brotherhood labelling me a heathen for fitting a Triumph motor to the little yellow beasty. I eventually found a genuine Mk4 Metisse roller for my Trumpy engine so I sold my M11 to Graeme "the Glove" Glover who refitted a Bultaco 4 speed engine. The Trumpy conversion was quite popular back in the sixties as a poorboy conversion for those wanting a pukka Metisse but couldn't afford one. There were plenty of M11 Metisses laying around with shagged engines so it the Tritaco became a natural mating. Having said that, $2900NZ isn't a bad price for an entry level pre 65 bike. Paint the frame black, fit proper Rickman graphics and Rickman Zundapp hubs and many wouldn't be able to pick the difference.
