Legal pre 75 alloy swingarms.
« on: November 22, 2013, 10:54:28 pm »
To my knowledge these PDI swingarms are the only legal aftermarket alloy swingarm for pre 75. Those "replica" swingarms available aren't pre 75 replicas to my research. The PDI is an improved edition of the original late 60's/early 70's Boyd and Stellings item, made after B&S sold the tooling. This seller has three of them.

Here we have a PDI Swingarm from the 70’s.  I bought a bunch of these from Sportwheels in Minneapolis where PDI was headquartered.  I had about 20 of them.  This is the last batch.  I do not know what they fit, however I have had several guys buy them up to fit on their bikes.  They are solid aluminum castings and strong as a rock.  The dimensions are:  Overall length on this one is 21 inches. The arm is 18 1/4 from middle of pivot to middle of axle fitting.   From the middle of the pivot bolt to the middle of the shock bolt is 11 7/8.  At the swingarm pivot, the arm is exactly 7.0 inches wide.  At the axle, the swingarm is 7 7/8 inches wide I.D. This is not a reserve auctions so you bid you can win.  Shipping is paid by buyer and is $30.00 in the U.S.  I will ship internationally cost is $65.00.  Sorry, it is so high international, but I have shipped a few of these over the pond and that is what it is.  Sold as is.  I have this listed locally so I reserve the right to end the auction early.  Please ask questions, and be patient.  This is not my full time job,. I accept Paypal. Please take a look at my other auctions, have two more of these different dimensions Thanks for looking

While the PDI / Boyd & stelling arms are pre 75 legal I don't think these ones will be because they are forward mount versions which suggests they are for later models like pre 78

Your right about these being the only legal aftermarket alloy pre75 arm Firko.....the other arms like DG etc where chrome moly......mainly for the jap bikes as there std arms where heavy steel. It's not right when you see those Thor  arms and other later made arms on pre75 bikes. As far as I know the Thor arm didn't get made till 76 and that's when a lot of Suzuki RM's and CR Honda's got them fitted. As far as those KLP arms go, well they just don't fit into VMX in my opinion on anything.
QVMX.....Australia's #1 VMX club......leading the way.
