Hi all,

Well i have scored a 2 owner ER185 in very good condition! I know these are not a collector, but its done little work and like new, and at a good price, but all it will need in the future to make it spot on is a new seat cover,

I know the chances of sourcing one are slim to none, but was wondering if anyone on here knows of anywhere that may do an aftermarket cover ??

Thanks in advance :)

Hi Geoffro, a good thing about these little 185 Suzies is the massive global sales figures they achieved.

Which for you means just like Commodores or Falcons, there are competitive parts supply a plenty.
You may also be surprised what your local Suzy dealer stocks as well.

Here are some seat covers

Something like this? They make very nice seats as well as selling the header pipe repair sections that some guys on here have used

Seat cover is on its way, i must either be losing the plot when shopping on ebay or there just isnt one, but the ER185 i have is a 90 model, and all the cables etc on ebay are for a lot earlier bikes, anyone of you lads know if they are the same right through the year models????

Also a bit confused as i always thought ER and TS were 2 totally different models, but the one i have just taken possesion of has ER on the seat and rego, but has TS on the engine and frame......

Geoffro I think the main change happened in or about !977(reed valve)
I think by 1980/81 they were all the same plastics from then on etc.
just different grahpics etc. but the same basic bike.

In some countries they were called TS,,,,
Allthough we know them as ER they are they same, even your serial numbers begin with TS Geoffro,, Cheers.

Hey Mick, your a legend! Thanks for the reply mate!!

I am not sure how far to go with this bike, as they were never of any real value, and will never be a "collectable"

Cheers,

I reckon they are a great little bike for hooting around town on Geoffro. Nearly as cheap as a dog to register and unlikely to chew your boots up :)

Don't forget to tell us your opinion of the seat cover when you get it finished :D

Don't forget to buy a carbie kit to replace the needle and needle jet and also modify the needle retaining plate.

In standard trim the retaining plate has 2 pressed indentations (one on each side) grind the one that goes on the bottom off, if you don't this kicks the needle off at an angle and causes it to grind inside the brass tube of the needle jet eventually making the jetting very woolly in the mid throttle range (too rich generally) I found out about this years ago and doing this mod at the same time as a jet kit was put  in transformed the bikes response.

A better muffler that is less restrictive also helps
