resto porting tip ?

i read somewhere an old school engine rebuilding tip (hotrods) was to use toothpaste as cam lubricant.

i have seen bon ami used on oil burners
you put some on a tablespoon and
hold it over carb while running and
let it get drawn into motor never seemed to work
once a guy stuck a whole can down carb
it rooted motor got in oil went through
everything forked crank cam head bore etc etc
ha ha what a dickhead i still remember him
he was a real tool
