Maico 69 400's Good or BAD?
« on: November 12, 2013, 05:59:24 pm »
I saw a 69 Maico 400 for sale and it looks like a neat bike but I don't know too much about them.

Are they duds or is it just a rumour.
I don't want to be pushing it around the pits all day but I have seen one at Nepean that seems to be reliable.
Whats the verdict?
If at first you don't succeed, lower your standards.

They are an awesome bike Darren.

Did you buy Dave$6's by any chance?

I would like to know what sort of fool reckons they are a dud?
I think Nifty's son Reece came first in the pre-70 class at the CRC, didn't he?
(one thing for sure about this joint,,,,some one will happily correct me if I am wrong on that one :o ;D ;D )

They are a beautiful handling flat tracker, with a nice spread of ratios for a four speed, that if it is a "T" for close ratio.

Use the slightly latter 7" dampers in it(which you are allowed to do) and the right set of rear shocks, then you have one of the better handling period Motocrossers.

Any bike that is unreliable these days is just miss-built, miss serviced or over-taxed, probably by the same fool up in the third line.
Lets face it they are the simplest of technologies. They are as tough as nails. Sadly there are two leggeds who own tool boxes that are even simpler than this most basic of technologies ::)
