Cool there are nice bike and a first model re design in regards to frame etc. You do need the USA Hi Comp spec head if your after the insane bark of earlier 495 models. I have one in the build stage with a few little extra's that should be ready first round of Heaven next year.

Yes i think that model KTM is a cool bike also and interesting because
of the one year only upside down fork with the drum brake then KTM changed
it back to the conventionals the following year.
This same bike has been for sale on craigs list on and off for the last 3 months
with the price starting at $1,400.

Good things, we raced one a few years back. Yep in standard trim it doesn't have the spastic power of the earlier ones but around 50hp was more than enough for us. The bike was very rideable with good smooth power delivery. We fitted a 44mm Mikuni jetted to Husky 500 specs just to try and left it on as the bike ran beautifully. We also modified a CR480 DG pipe to fit which took vey little effort. Probably should have kept that one.

I have a DG pipe for mine and I have adapted a 84 Honda disk brake. Really only need to sort out fly wheel weight and assemble the engine now. Will start with 38 bing and see how that goes. I dont like the heavy spring in the big mikuni's
