And a Kawasaki and a Suzuki and an Aermacchi and.......
Pity you can't read the plaques. I'd be interested to know why they're there.
My favourite is Gilles Lalay's NXR. Complete with damage from it's last race.  8)

And an ex Sheene RG500. Wonder where they got that? AFAIK Sheene kept his bikes if he won the championship. Deceased estate maybe?

Barry kept 1 each of his bikes from each year and they're still in his house on the gold coast. He had more that 1 bike each year obviously so there are a few out there with collectors. His son Freddie recently rode a couple of Barry's bikes belonging to collectors in exhibition races in the UK.

Yeah, I agree it's likely the bike in the museum is one of Barrys reserve bikes.

Collection Hall is worth a trip to Japan just for that, I was luck enough to be there for a demonstration day when they trot out all sorts of cars and bikes for a few laps around the short circuit. The bike part of it still smells of race fuel, and downstairs out the back is the glass fronted room where the bikes and cars are prepped for the next demo day. IIRC all the staff that do that are ex-HRC race team mechanics and engineers.
One amazing display was the internals of the RC 154 50cc twin where everything was minaturised to the enth degree spark plugs thinner than a biro with 6mm threads.

i went to that Motegi museum in 2001 and 2004. they change the display bikes around,  there was more Superbikes on display then. i remember downstairs near the entrance was an huge wall sized poster of Steve McQueen, plus the Elsinore and the Honda shirt he wore in the TV add. you can watch the mechanics working on different bikes through a large window in one of the workshops.
there's a floor for F1 and Indy cars, plus all the different touring cars and the Jap spec GT500 race cars. up until the late 1990's the museum was at the Suzuka circuit, there's still some bikes and cars there too.

i laughed when i saw that red plate#2 CR with the leading link front end again... what were they thinking?
