CR250 RG Resto
« on: October 02, 2013, 05:38:17 pm »
Hey all,

Was just having a look through this section, and noticed it is where people post up and ask questions regarding their resto's

I am restorting an 86' CR250 and just wondering if any of you clued up Honda guru's may have any helpful tips for me ?
This forum has proved very helpful in the short time i have been a member, and after reading some other resto threads i think there is still a truck load more to learn

A few questions i have that im not sure about,

Foot pegs - are them small ugly looking things the original ones ? any other option look good ?
From factory were the front and side plastics Yellow or White ?
Did the RF have swing arm decals ?
Best way to get forks and swing arm to look as good as can be for their age ?

Was going to post some before pics, but there doesn't seem to be an option..

Thanks in advance :)

G'day Geffro,

good model that one its my Favorite . i have one ( since 1987) and recently sold its identical sister.

sweet handling bike with a great engine. here is my take on the answers in blue

Foot pegs - are them small ugly looking things the original ones ? any other option look good ? i use the GMC footpeg wideners and weld them on to the original ones, they give a much better feel
From factory were the front and side plastics Yellow or White ? They were green
Did the RF have swing arm decals ? RF or RG ? Not sure, i will look at the parts fiche and get back to you

Are the pegs the same as the RE?

I made some wide pegs fit for the 125RE that I am doing.

The standard ones were f#%ked

Not sure mate, but they are tiny and very narrow, they look shocking

RF 85 model had a solid blue Prolink swingarm decal,RG 86 model had a black outline decal,My Honda ID guide shows the numberplates in white ,Green was the colour needed to race 250cc in OZ,Black=125,Green=250,Yellow=500/open class, the 125 & the 500 came factory with the right colours :)
