All true except the Kim part, he never approached the Toowoomba club, it was me from the start.

Well, I have hit the reply button so i guess that's a start. Our previous QVMX president (Kim) started talking to Toowoomba Club Re using their track, he resigned from QVMX committee for family reasons and asked John Tate (QVMX) to take over the issue. John then had a severe accident and I (Andrew) offered to take over with  the organising. I went up to Toowoomba on two occasions to meet with their committee and organise the event.
Some of our QVMX members were able to get up to Toowoomba for a practice the weekend before (father's day) and relate their comments to Tmxc.
who worked on the concerns of running VMX on a modern track. On the Sat before race day, people were saying to me "if you don't turn off the sprinklers, then we will as we don't want to be running in a "mudbath" toomorow!. I suggested that the TMXC had run the MX Nats here two weeks earlier and the same people were prepping the track for us VMX. Then we get people complaing about the dust, rightfully so. At the lunch break there were two people watering the track. Peter Stocker and yours truly.

Mate, the track was awesome, the dust wasn't that bad (trust me on that, I'm always at the back of the pack). Your efforts and those of the rest of the organisers/volunteers are sincerely appreciated.

I'm sorry but if you think the dust wasn't that bad, you need to think again and I don't trust you. Conondale was too dusty and Echo Valley was worse. Just ask Glen and James they just played around in their last race. The track was also very slippery because it was too dry. Yes the track was great, but it could have been a lot better had it been properly watered. The club TwmbaMXC also can not afford to cover their neighbours in dust.

Valid points maybe, but it should be discussed with the club? Nothing said on here matters too much.

You just needed to leave the track watering to the track experts, for that track. Peter Stocker and Daniel Yung. They know their own track. Yes in the past some members have got it drastically wrong, but based on the track prep and watering for the AMXC round they do know what to do.

Track prep and watering is never straight forward and a lot depends on when it last rained. If there's limited moisture in the ground it is a lot more difficult to get it right.

I would have liked to be there Saturday to help, but I was doing exactly the same thing somewhere else.

Yeh it was great. I recently moved to T'mba & now live less than 5mins from the track, so I turned up to spectate for a couple of hrs. Congrats to all who put in the effort to run it. I've heard about this track since the 1st Mountain Man event in mid 70s but always lived too far from it to attend an event. Not hard to see why it has such a great reputation. Looking forward to Nats next year.
