Vic Red Plate Info
« on: September 12, 2013, 09:06:52 pm »
Just thinking out loud here, but would it be possible to get a Red Plate on a 1975 Husky CR?
What are the requirements?
Can I run a total loss light set up if working lights are necessary?  ;)
I was thinkin' that the WR never had compliance plate anyway, so maybe I could pass the CR of as a WR?  ;D

FYI I'm only from SA which is why I've got no idea about this stuff.....

Not much chance Tony. I think you will find that you need a compliance plate or proof of previous registration.

Say no more ;D

I think compliance plates didn't come in until 77 so you should be okay there but I think you will need to have the lights working properly.
You will also need a horn and mirror.

You will most likely find that different clubs will behave differently as to actual requirements and some may even require a roadworthy.
Best you suss out any clubs as to how they will look upon the bike before you join them.
Road going clubs will most probably want a RWC.
You can always give Drakie a yell as he is VERi's red plate officer but I don't think we can do bikes for other states.

Thanks fellas.
You're right about compliance plates, GMC. I don't think that would be an issue and neither will being in SA. I'm sure I can get some poor, unsuspecting soul in Vic to take possession on paper to get around that one.
The deal is that I've got this bike, but no plans to ever ride motocross, so just starting to think what to do with it.....    :-\

I may not agree with what you have to say, but I'll defend to the death your right to say it.

FYI Got the info from the all-knowing Drakie.
Seems it has to be a WR to get the Red Plate.
Sad, but fair enough and I would have been surprised if the answer was anything different.  8)
