It's worth what he's got it on for now, maybe a few hundred more if the spare engine is not in disrepair. Any more than that and you're better offer putting in offers of 3.k on everything prices higher than that you see come up in the future, you'd know by now that you'll end up being better off (financially) spending the money from the outset.

There was a good running bike a few months back for 2500

I was thinking about doing a sr500 style bike like this. I saw one the other day and thought

I need one of those!!

Not VMX but super cool!!!

If that's everyone's ideal xt 500... why are they worth so much to buy before starting to cut them up.... hey i like that one, it would be a ton of fun around the ocean rd.

i rode a new XT in 1979... my XL motosport ran rings around it (until a straight bitumen rd obviously )

so i struggle with the "legend status"
I found the motor unresponsive and with far too much flywheel mass. The steering was lazy plus and flopped from side to side if you were off road in any shape... weight bias was too far to the rear. forks were dull and had too much compression and insufficient rebound making the steering go funny if there is more than 1 bump.

with 300 kms on the clock, ol mate barely clipped a tree like and snapped all the top rhs fork clamp bolts and peeled the top clamp open like orange peel. took weeks to get that mess sorted.

such a visual beauty but a realistic disappointment...Like the XR 500.

Oh I'm not saying for a single second that I'd pay that for one nor think they're worth that, but the marketplace says that's about what it'd be worth. Why they by them and preced to destroy is beyond me, horses for courses......
