Pre 60 bike for CMX titles in Canberra
« on: June 30, 2013, 07:29:07 pm »
I am trying to find a pre 60 bike for the Classic MX titles in November at Canberra. After BSA Bantam or C15, Jawa, DKW, or any bike that can be converted to a scrambler.
I can rebuild the motor but I havent got a huge budget so nothing over $3000.00. We had 7 Pre 60 bikes at the CMX titles in here QLD so I want to support this class.
I will consider renting a bike off someone and pay any repairs if required but would prefer buying.
You can contact me on 0418630528
Regards
Glenn

Thanks Montynut would love that bike due to being half craut and half skippy. Has already been relisted at over 6k so thats to rich for me.
Thanks Mainline I will be riding the SL100 in the pre 75 125 class but have increased engine size to a huge 125cc. I have now won on this bike in standard trim a third at club level for pre 75 50-59 class and just came third at the QLD titles for the same class. There was more than 6 riders in the class at the titles but I stayed upright and finished all 3 rounds. You dont need to have afast bike just a constant result.
I have found a couple of BSA bantams on ebay but would prefer something local to Brisbane.

The Bantams not too good in the hills.....well, not too good on the UP hills to be more prezact :D :D Very good on the down hills (no brakes) and absolute crap for anyone over 40kgs....but I gotta say I had an absolute ball riding the Nats at Wyarralong last year, so yes...go do it!

Here's something right out of left field......Because I really want to see the Pre 60 class go off at Kumagutza, I'm willing to supply a C15 BSA frame, Harley back wheel, Goldy front hub, 1959 T100SC Triumph core motor and a set of new motocross high pipes, BSA B44 tank and whatever else is needed to build the bike to ride in the pre 60 class at the Nats. All you have to do is build it. I'll still own the bike of course but you get to ride it at the Nats and as many NSW big meetings as you can squeeze in without hammering and old bike into the ground. There will be a decent bit of fabrication, an engine rebuild (I pay for parts), one front wheel to build, paint, and the squillion little things involved in building a hot rod TriBSA.

I'll supply and pay for the parts but you do the work and ride the thing for a season or longer if the relationship works out. My only stipulations being that you live in the Sydney Metro area or no further than Wollongong/Newcastle, are reasonably familiar with British bikes and are proficient enough to fabricate and weld the needed parts and frame mods so the bike is built to an acceptable standard and that you've got a clear schedule with plenty of shed time and no other projects on the go. Everything else is negotiable............What do you reckon, am I asking too much?

Well your first question should have been, so where do you live? As he is in Queensland.

Seriously....thanks for putting that out there Mark, I hope someone is smart enough to take up your offer, and I wish that I lived a bit closer to take you up.

Thanks everybody for their efforts in finding me a pre 60 bike. I have a Jawa on the way from sunny emerald thanks to Dave A putting me in touch with Ray S.
Thanks for the offer Firko but I live in QLD since 2005 not sunny Canberra anymore.
Just need to find a bike for super senior for the same class but he might go for a proper c15 not a hybrid.
Thanks again and it's amazing how well our vintage network can communicate.
See you at Canberra.
