G,day viewers I need to make a fork brace for my Hannibal project. What's the best way to do this I was thinking of making it out of plate steel as I need it to be a brake stay as well. So do I heat the metal before I bend it ? Jimson

I have,nt bought it yet. I will have to measure it I,m just a little worried about making the metal weak by bending it cold. For strength should I heat it before I bend it ? How thick should I go ? Jimson

Mate, I reckon most fork braces are aluminium, but i reckon you could make it out of Approx 5 x 80mm mild steel bar (Black bar) or rolled hot steel. You could heat it to make it easier...

G,day Tim I need to put a lug on the bottom to catch the brake hub. This means welding so steel is something I can do in the shed. If I use aluminum I have to pay somone. Jimson
