Was it a Series?  Or just a one off race?

Is this Tivoli?

Another photo has an Ipswich Ambulance in the background, so I assume it's Tivoli...

I'm guessing it was mostly Qld riders - anyone know who these riders were in 1979?

43 on a KX250
E59 on a Yamaha
151 on a Suzuki
6 on a Yamaha
74 on a Kawasaki (on both a 250 and an Open Class bike)
160 on a Yamaha
F59 on a Yamaha
586 (perhaps a Kawasaki?)

It was a one round teams race that evolved into the sunshine state series that we have now.
I rode the 79 race and yes it is Tivoli.
43 Peter Coward
151 Stewart McLachlan
74 Peter Ploen
160 Peter Gash
If I get time to look up an old program I can tell you the rest of them..

I worked at Mayfairs during that period and we put together that Sunshine State series to expand interest through-out the state. We got alot of flack for being too SEQ centered.
Eddie Bailey and I reckon Geoff Udy and a couple of other dealers put their heads together to make it happen. It was a great promo and I think came together at Tivoli for a final with riders be encouraged to come from all over the state. Steve Dinsdale would have been one I reckon, from NQ.
I remember alot of the numbers but not exactly who the are....pause for more thought....nope, not coming back today :D
I still have a poster and I can recall we had a banner at least 25'X5' that we put up in the trees that were over the pit area. It was massive and weighed heaps....but by lunch time some pricks had knocked it off....it was gone and to where and for what we'll never know :D :D :D
