Why is this Husky not sold???
« on: June 25, 2013, 05:44:32 pm »
I dont know too much about them other than some models can be quite hard to find and those that love em, love em with a passion....I've seen this one on ebay for a while (days) it didnt sell at auction and now is anyones for $1500, i understand its gonna need a little further work but i would have thought someone would have snapped it at this price by now :-\ Happy to be enlightened as why its maybe not desirable? Or is just a pretty cold, hard reminder of the times we're in the moment...?

Cause it is likely to be a bitsa. He said it is a 73 model. Don't think 73 model bikes had lay down rear shocks. More likely to be a 76. Which might be better anyway. I don't have much confidence in a chap who can't get a centre gasket right on a Re Build. One hundred and seventy five cubic centimetre bikes have a limited use and appeal. That could be the major factor.

Just my two bobs worth

I dont know much about Huskies but that one looks a bit of a dog it's a mixed box of parts. A guess would be a 76 enduro frame and Honda front end so if you raced it you have to go pre 78 250 class, I rather put $1500 into a nice RM.

2000 post how time does fly.
If you were going to be harsh on the Husky one could also point out the lack of spark $300 to $500 to fix it really has no seat so again another $300 to fix the forks are wrong plus they dont fit the pre 78 era so more expense to buy the right forks. The reason these are rare is they didnt sell back then as no one wanted a 175 much the same as today. You could make a nice Vinduro but again you could make something better with the same money.

The buy now price $1500.00 is to much considering the issues listed

Its most probably a 1976

You will need a good half day to rectify the centre case gasket. motor out , split it , rectify it , reassemble and refit motor

Seals minimum and probably bearings advisable while its apart.

Fix the non spark issue could be costly or could be very easy(you wouldnt know until you checked it out)

install correct front wheel etc if your fussy

1974 175 WR  MK-00001 thru 10499
1975-1976 GP  ML-00001 thru 05999
1983 WR  WO-00001 and higher
1983 XC 175 XO-00001 and higher

realistically its probably worth $750.00 tops

Its would be a fantastic thing once it was sorted

If wasnt doing this 1978 CCM with my mate , i would make the guy an offer

I had a 175 Husky. I managed to have a head on with a mate on a RM 250 A up at Three Bridges back around 1980. No big deal but I bent the forks beyond repair and replaced them with guess what..... a set of Elsinore forks. I wonder....! J
