Brake lining repair
« on: June 15, 2013, 03:35:32 pm »
Hello
Just would like to ask if anybody here knows anything about having  brake lining inside a wheel hub repaired. My drum is worn out and I do not want to buy another one that may be just as bad. I know that some Bultacos have hard chromed brake drums instead of conventional cast iron lining. I am considering having my brake drum lining hard chromed and machined to correct size.
Any ideas?

Provided the drum will stand re-machining, over size linings (meaning lining thicker than standard) can be fitted to the shoes and then radius ground to correctly match the new diameter of the drum.
Go to a brake specialist for this.
Burt Brothers Brakes at Fairfield ( NSW ) does this stuff, if thats any help.
 cheers pancho.
dont follow me i'm probably off line!
