CT1 Piston
« on: June 07, 2013, 10:59:20 am »
I have a job in the shop at the moment with a nice CT1 engine....  Engine number DT1-164685

Customer wanted a full inspection and re-build....

Question is are the Wiseco pistons available going to be satisfactory or should I chase a NOS kit appropriate to the size needed.

I remember in the IT days the Wiseco was different in the intake window but worked?

The DT1 is a 250cc motor, given the engine number, is a DT2 (I think) with a reed valve. The CT1 is a piston port, CT2 are windowed piston reed valve motor.
250 and 175 pistons (reed valve) a still available and are still via yamaha or evilbay. Wiseco Pistons for DT175A or DT250A would work (in the right engine)!

Thanks crossedup2 ...awesome info.  I'll try the genuine Yamaha route via the Frame number....

It has a L shaped ring (top), Two hole piston window,  and Alloy reed block so you are on the money..
