Kawasaki F21M Special
« on: June 11, 2013, 09:51:31 pm »
This beastie has been for sale for a few months and has gradually dropped in price from 2k to the $1000 it is today. A mate and I were seriously considering buying it to split up, the rolling frame for his F21M engine and the little 500 Trumpy motor for one of my hot rod projects. We then decided that with 20 or so unfinished projects between the pair of us, we really didn't need another one. The $1000 the guy is asking is cheap for the 500 Triumph engine alone but the F21M roller is probably worth that again plus a few bucks more as it's the rarest of the rare Japanese production motocrossers, the first production Japanese motocrosser actually. I've blown the photos up as best I could and the frame appears to be largely unmolested other than engine mount relocation and the odd welded bracket or two. As it is it'd make an interesting and fun pre 70 class racer or a decent start for a flat tracker project. It's located near Sacramento, California so the shipping to the Long Beach ports shouldn't be so expensive.

I contacted the seller - and he replied, but the email's on the home computer. I'll try to remember to post it on the forum.
Yes, I too was tempted, but with about 15 projects waiting maybe the $1000 + shipping (another $1000) could be better utilised elsewhere...

Here's the seller's reply:

"I do not know the history of this bike.My guess is a fast guy  wanted a
lightweight chassis to put his race motor in.The engine does not turn.
I am not sure if it is blown or just from sitting
for many years.I won't force it and risk messing something up even
worse.Awhile back I sprayed some stuff in the spark plug holes, but have not
messed with it for a long time.Yes,I am sure that it was raced. It had a
roached out number plate on it when I got it.The seat and tank are F21m.The
seat needs redone and the tank is rusted badly. Thanks for your
interest.Vance."
