Plastic restoration 2
« on: June 02, 2013, 06:05:36 pm »
Hi,

lve been cleaning my guards and thought l would post on how l did it with pictures this time.

This is the front guard off my parts bike, looks like its had a hard life.

First into the laundry trough for a good scrubb in hot water with washing powder (becouse its next to the trough) and a good scrubb with some fine grade steel wool (becouse thats what was in the shed)

All the oxide has come off where lve cleaned and as lm not using it lm only doing the front for photos

Next l used paint cutters to polish it up a bit and get the areas l missed with the steel wool.

The green on the towel is from the cutters, it happens to be green too.

Then a polish by hand with a fine polish and off to the buff in a vice with a wooly pad, gently as to not burn or melt the plastic.

Not as good as the one on the bike but a vast difference from what l started with.
