20,000rpm gokart motor
« on: March 11, 2013, 09:05:55 pm »
Could here this little screamer from home on sunday & have heard it before, this time it was still there [albeit broken] by the time i got down there. Had just broken the rear axle mount on one side. Anyway, had 'two' motors called 'iame' & pull 20 grand [& it sounded like it]--will go to 22 if you're brave he said. Tyres were shredded & said it lights up the rears if you get on the gas too hard out of corners & lifts the front wheels, [maybe the inside wheel -maybe both, that'd be interesting]. Discs on the front--too much for me, i'm still in the "wheel barrow wheels & 197 villiers age!!.
Other motor's a 6 speed TM125 i think, were heaps of those down there--fast & quiet, which they have to be as the city creeps closer. Anyway, 20,000 rpm reminds me of the Honda 50 twin racer in the "60's, gosh imagine those little valves going up n down. [thought they did 22 thousand so cheated & looked it up!!]. Had a record once [you know, those round black things before tapes & cd's] that was thin as & came wrapped in the english motorcycle news once, was iomtt sounds of the various bikes [honda 250 6 etc]. Sorry--reminiscing again. Cheers.

Honda not to be forgotten also had the 3 cylinder 50cc and 125cc 5 cylinder. 25000rpm

Suzuki had this. I have never seen this before but really does make you think

Most fixed gear direct drive water cooled kart engines pull those rpms no big deal, Castor oil at 16:1 takes care of that. TM looks like a KZ9 ICC engine those really go hard most are 40odd HP despite the fixed ignition and 30mm carby. Here's our own attempt at the 50HP barrier. Swapping to a 41.5mm carb

Only a 4T but sounds pretty good even better in person.

At TECK College in the 60's I had a mate who's father owned The Queensland Kart Center.
He said they were running Pasolini's [ spelling is probably way off ] out of Italy.
24000 rpm was about normal I was told.
Come a long way haven't we . ::)
