Powder coating engine cases

Hi All

I have not been that successful with painting my engine cases / clutch cover etc and they look pretty cruddy after a few rides so I was thinking about pulling it down again and powder coating, some questions from anyone who has done it successfully as I am a bit of a novice in this area having only done a frame....

1. Can all engine parts be powder coated i.e. cases, barrel & head or do the top end get too hot?
2. Can powder coating be done on all metals i.e. magnesium etc
3. Obviously I would need to prep as much as possible and they would need blasting but would I need to pre protect the mating surfaces prior to powder coating and is masking tape enough or is this something they do?
4. Can anyone recommend someone who does this in the Sydney area? - happy to send interstate if a good operator

Hey I apologize in advance if I sort of highjack this topic.
Am very interested in this. Looking for a solution to the same question.
Would powder coating limit heat dissipation?
I was thinking of having cases and top engine (all aluminum) anodized.
Has anybody tried that?

I successfully powdercoated a set of Magnesium XL250 Motosport engine sidecovers.

I wasnt sure if they would withstand it, but not a problem in the end.

That should answer #2.  ;D

I think the work needed to get engine cases polished enough to have then anodised without coming out looking shite would be massive.

Two pack paint is the go for tough wear resistant finish however it is damn expensive unless you have the gear to do it yourself. I had some clutch covers done and they turned out great but were pricey at $50 each. The paint stays on and doesn't wear or chip off after a couple of rides.
