Maico deal on Swapmeet.
« on: January 15, 2013, 10:15:18 pm »
This looks to be the deal of the year if I read it correctly. For $5500 you get a clean '81 250, a complete looking '82 490GS and as a bonus for buying both bikes the seller's throwing in what appears to be a 1991/92 440...shown in the background of the bottom pic. You can spend 10k on shiny bling '81 490's or you can spend almost half that and get three decent bikes. To me it's a no brainer.

 FOR SALE
Ad # 3209058 January 14, 2013

Maico package for sale: 1981 250 MX and 1982 490 Alpha E. 1981 has a racing restoration performed with many new parts: New top end, new primary chain, new Maico Only pipe and silencer, new plastic, new tank, new chain and sprockets, new wheel bearings and brakes, newly rebuilt suspension front and rear, new Magura controls and cables, new seat base/foam/cover, new filter, new tires, and new frame and
topend paint. Spares include new piston kit, new rod kit, original pipe/silencer, seat, extra tanks, original side panels, and manual. The '82 490 was bought as a donor for the motor and wheels for the '81 but it's too nice and original to take it apart. I pictured it with no cleaning or polishing to hide the fade on the original plastic so you know what you are getting. All original plastic, lights, Metzeler tires, seat, bars with "Maico" sticker in between the bar clamps, plus some extra items (a small box of stickers, brakes, manual, and a title). This bike should clean up great! The 250 has not been run since it was restored and the 490 since I bought it so some carb cleaning would be in order. Buy the set and you get the late model 440 MX in the backgound. $5500 OBO. I take PayPal, check (will hold for it to clear bank), and money order. I will help in shipping any way I can but it will be at buyers expense. I encourage seeing the bikes in person if you are serious. Thanks for looking!

Looks like a sweet deal, things must really be tough for those poor seppos at the moment :'(
What sort of money would one be looking at to get all these bikes back aus? Melb or syd wouldn't matter, are importers likely to do a deal on the 3? Or is it gonna be case of normal price x3??
THE SEXMAX.....coming soon to an Evo race near you!!! Lining up right along side the soon to be released TEDMAX!!!
