Newbie signing in
« on: January 07, 2013, 01:24:48 am »

Hi all,

I've just had my application approved, and finally can start taking part in the conversations around here rather than just sit on the sidelines watching.  Who knows if I'll have anything interesting to say, but I'll enjoy myself...

My name is Geoff and I've been riding bikes since I was 8 years old.  That is nearly 38 years worth of riding practice, and I'm still useless at it.  I worked in the motorcycle industry for just on 12 years up until 1999, then went back to uni and got involved in designing and building racecars.  But the bikes were always my first love.

The cool thing about being old is that I can now afford some of the bikes I lusted after as a kid.  I now own a couple of RM125T's and a PE250 in bits, all of which were high on the desirables list when I was a teenager.  One of the 125's is running, the other 125 and the 250 are going to be big-time rebuilds.  But it will be fun.  I've also got a 1974 Honda XL100 fully restored,  and some other stuff lying around here and there that will get built up over time.

I reckon 1978-1980 were the golden years when it came to mx'ers, they all stir the soul for me irrespective of marque.  I'm looking forward to getting out on track and dreaming I'm Anthony Gunter amongst all those twin-shock CR's and RM's, and monoshock YZ's

Anyway, that is a long enough intro.  Plenty of time ahead to waffle on.

Cheers all,

Geoff

Thanks all.  Glad to be here.

Shelpi, that sounds like exactly the kind of service I need.  These motorcycle gods, do they have an office here in Melbourne?  ;)

Iain, thanks for your tolerance with my choice of brands.  You might be pleased to know that prior to the RM's, I'd owned 18 of your colour - and wish I had kept all of them.  (I see you are from Tas - hope you are doing OK over there with the fires and all)

Cheers,

Geoff

G'day Geoff  :-)

Welcome, I'm in Wallan, not far from you, I look forward to meeting you and checking-out some of your bikes in the future, maybe at the Broadford Bonanza?

Regards, John
