The very first vintage race I ever saw, at Sandhill Ranch, California in 1986 had a 1-2 finish with a pair of 125 Monarchs ahead of bunch of Jap bikes. I remember thinking at the time that these things must be something special but I found out that they weren't as special as I thought when they both DNF'd in the next moto with trans selector problems...the Sachs Achilles heal. I think Jim Scaysbrooks got one tucked away in the shed.
