SUZUKI DR250S FORK INFO

Dont laugh but I have aquired a 1982 DR250 (at least it was for free!). On closer the forks, top triple clamp and wheel could be used for a project bike. The forks look like maybe 81/2 - 9" of travel. Could they be from maybe a 89 - 90 RM?? I notice they have air valves. Can anybody help with oil and air volumes required? Oh yeah their 35 mm Dia and would it be worth putting some YSS PD valves in them. Cheers Jerry

35 mm is std DR250 with disc brake.

35mm std '82-'89, 9.6in travel, 258cc of 10wt per leg , don't know air pressure specs

Question for Doc  :)

Just found a couple of sets of these in the stash  ;D are they any good to refurbish TM 250 or RM 125S forks  ???

I realise they may give a muff hairs width more travel than the purist would like  ::) but if you dont tell i wont  ;D

I have at least 2 sets of 125S forks with rooted chrome so if they are an easy swap will be great  :)

Ahh the humble muff hair  ;) very underated IMHO , depending on the nationality  / race of the donor can be used for a number of services for the motorcyclist  ;)

A magnificent emergency measuring device for setting points to valve clearances ( again depending on the above criteria )

In extreme cases can be used as lock wire

Jet cleaners

Im told if you get enough you can substitute for an inner tube  and will get you home  :o

If mixed with an epoxy resin will repair a holed crankcase , fuel tank , fork leg etc

There are many more uses but currently elude me  ::)

Remarkable really for an item  that rich ladys use to warm their hands on cold days  ;)

Bill ...43mm longer to answer your question, the problem is the machined downed section at the bottom of the tube which comes down from 35mm to 34.75mm

Bill..I've fitted DR inners in RM125S and TM250 lowers without problem. Even though inners are longer you won't get anymore travel as it's the lowers that dictate the amount of movement available ;) can't remember which damper rods I used but I think the std RM/TM rods swap straight in
