More Water bottle problems!
« on: September 06, 2012, 08:52:42 pm »
After finding out the water pump seal had started leaking coolant into the gearbox.
I replaced the mechanical water pump seal and the inner seal.
Now once warm it starts leaking out the drain hole underneath the mechanical seal ::)
Apart from owning a Suzuki, what did I do wrong ???

I had a problem similar to what you described, turned out to be the bearing housing in the case was worn, which allowed the shaft to float and water to pass by the seals. Check everything, bearing and housing, shaft work in area that it comes into contact with bearings or seals.

Bearing housing can be worn, as can the shaft the seals run on ;) Usually a quick linish is enough to bring the shaft back to spec.

OR you could tighten the seal up but that's another story.
