Twin shock big bore?
« on: July 28, 2012, 02:08:11 pm »
Why cant you put the air cool big bore into a Twin shock frame? I'm not understanding why this is not allowed as it would be twin shock air cooled drum brake etc? But at the same time you could do a KX 500 like this as well.

To be Evo legal the components have to be from an evo legal bike. Otherwise Dutch twinshock is just around the corner

There's nothing to say you can't put a cr 480/500 motor into a twin shock frame.......you'd just have to race it in pre '85.(same with kx500)
But the easy option there is a KDX400.

Ok so the parts must come from a an EVO model? That is a shame as I like to see more EVO big bores and I dont feel that a Honda hybred would be better than the class leading Maico

So if you can find a shitty A5 250 you can fit it with a motor from one of these?
I would really like to see one of these build.

Mick there are a couple in Aussie already  ;) cool builds  8)

I think the current ruling is a good one , at first thought it seems daft but as paul pointed out if you let that particular mod into Evo next thing it would be like the UK and Europe . While the European deal does showcase some cool machinery and clever engineering it is not IMHO vintage racing, its as the name suggest TWINSHOCK racing.

On this side of the world we really do have the best of both  :) anyone can build a hybrid but the open class Hondas must run in Pre 85 .

This preserves the spirit and integrity of vintage racing while still providing a class where such hybrids can compete .

There's hardly a shortage of big bores that you can run in EVO. The time and money spent trying to graft some 500 into a CR frame would probably be better spent on resurecting some bike that did exist.

People seem to be bored with what we have I think. Re-inventing the wheel with all these hybrids.....

It all comes down to whether you want to go Vintage racing or Nutty Professor bucket racing

I'll have to check it out - It's the A2 motor you use, isn't it?

I've got a spare A2 motor laying around - just gotta find an A5 frame I suppose...    ::)
