carry over rule

I know this exists for some bikes in the pre 75 class, where no changes where made the following years model.
Does this rule apply to all classes, in particular an xr 600 that remained the same from 1988 to the final version (except BNG). Would a 1992 model be eligible for pre 90 ?

When did the 600s get the rear disc (I know the 250 got rear in 1990, not sure if the 600 got one at the same time, or later)? Are those parts the same as pre-90 CR parts?
What about the forks - if the '92 600 first got cartridge forks in 90/91/92, then you'd want your forks to be the same as the 86~89 CR RWU cartridge forks.

The basic bike is right, you might just have to back-spec certain major components to ensure it is pre-90 legal.

Good point the Australian model XR600R had a drum rear brake in 1989 with the rear disc not appearing until 1991 in Australia.

Oh bugger, just did a google image search and it came up with both a drum version and a disc version.
