New Fred Gassit compilation book review
« on: July 12, 2012, 11:52:49 am »
It's tops, some great bog time reading, lots of favorite characters, Wally the Head, Saddam and Grandma. Simon O'Leary's command of Aussie lingo is superb, can't understand how 'whydonchers' isn't in the dictonary.Even better if you have the accompanying 'Withering Stare' compilation.

Cool
So is this a new book and not just a repeat of the first 2?
Advertised in AMCN I assume, haven't bought it for years, Fred was the only real reason I bought it but after a while they were just repeats.

The first two books were so long ago now, Geoff, that I cannot tell if this selection
is old or new.   Feels all-fresh to me ...

Some frames have me crying laughter all over gain.  I've bought
four copies so far ... one's going to a mate in UK, etc.   It's subliminal shit indeed.
Cripes, what a mind that guy must have.

Second frame, page 36 ...

I love when a salesman or bouncer is shown with 'aftershave waft' eminating from them. Headlines on the mags or newpapers Fred reads are classics with the long running jokes 'King Wally's Crown" and "Big Twins at Calder" make me laugh along with track side signage of "Drink Beer" "Smoke Smokes"  "Be a Man" and "Dhurries". I would have to scan it but "Ignore them they are just classic bike groupies" frame is a beauty.

So desperate I was to own one I had to buy it from the local Newsagent, I normally avoid him because he’s such a fuggin idjit.
I haven’t looked at the old books for a while but I reckon its all fresh.
Great stuff in it however I reckon he hit the nail on the head more often in the other 2.
