Hi Guys,

I'd like to borrow a Dial Gauge and spark plug hole adapter in Brisbane to set my timing prior to Double the Dirt.

Anyone got one I can borrow for this weekend?  (7th-8th July)

I had to replace the Pulser Coil on the IT, and I have set the timing using the old "Digital Verniers through the plug hole" technique, but there's too many variables that way.  The timing's definitely not correct at the moment and I'd like to makes sure it's set properly before I start trying the trial and error method.

Please PM, email or phone if you can help me out.

Thanks,

Tony

Because I'm in Sydney and you're up there in evil Maroon country it might be a bit too late in the game to loan you mine Tony but if you want, let me know and I'll express mail it up to you.
If you're thinking of buying one for the future you'd be hard pressed to go past this item. I've got one and they're pretty good quality for the price.

Thanks for that Mark.

I'm definitely looking to buy one, and that one definitely looks good.  How does it go with the head fins?  The ad says "WILL NOT CLEAR COOLING FINS OF AIR-COOLED HEADS", but just from looking at it, it certainly looks like it would work on my IT-C's at least..

The other one I'd found was http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/MOTOR-CYCLE-TWO-STROKE-TIMEING-GAUGE-2-ADAPTORS-25-MM-50-MM-UNIVERSAL-KIT-/280866844473?pt=UK_Motorcycle_Parts&hash=item4164f7ef39

The plug adaptor is easy to make an hour on the lathe/tap. What you will need (the pommy kit has a bolt) is extentions on the plunger on your indicator. A standard dial indicator plunger won't go anywhere near the piston. They can be purchased from engineering supply stores the 35mm face indicators are more useful than the 50mm.

EDIT the pommy kit looks home made

Tony...just in case there's a clearance problem I'll send you my cheap and cheerful Chinese dial indicator which has the 50mm extention. I'll pop it off in an hour.

Sorry Mate - just saw your post!  Getting renovations done at home at the moment, and internet time is severely restricted...

Everything's getting covered in dust from the tile being lifted, so I rarely take the time to remove the plastic drop sheet from over the computer...

Thanks for the offer - but Firko had already sent me one..
