Can someone please advise if the frame/swingarm colour is the same as the crankcase colour. Is it tahitian Red?

I don't know if it's a product of the heat produced by the motor or something else, but on my unrestored Red Rockets the engines are a lighter color than the frames.

Ive seen a number of them (unrestored ) where the frame is a different shade to the bottom end and cylinder and the head is different again, a very dark red  ???

I was under the impression that originally the engines were satin not gloss like the frame. Maybe this gives the impression of a different shade of red?

Bill this is from heat over the years (cylinder and head different colours).

Not sure that the base colour is Tahitian red, I have restored 2 bikes (both 250's) and had the colour (of the fenders) colour matched from my local paint supplier., I painted the frame and tank to match the after market fenders I purchased in gloss and than used the same (2 pack) on the engines but added a dulling agent you can get to take the gloss out of it. That way all colours matched (if not quite the same as original).

The engine color is quite different to the rest. It's a satin, almost flat pinkish red. I've had it matched & formulated from a NOS engine case. Can be suplied in 250ml to 4 litre lots 2K top coat. Doesn't discolor with use.
Cheers,
K

Shane did have a nos cylinder for a 250RZ that would have been a good match....

Still do Craig, but like Big K said it is a pinkish colour and does not match the new model plastics available.

If you had all new old stock plastic or want to paint them (old plastics) that would be a different matter.

Big K the dis-colour (from what I have seen) comes from blokes running them to lean and the cylinder / head overheat. Generally older original bikes.

Satin or more so flat finish is correct

As Bigk said, its very different to the frame colour both in the fact that the engine is a flat colour and the frame is a gloss but also in the fact they are two different colours. There are no paint codes so it is hard to get it right. If you want to make it the same as original then buying some from Bigk would be the go.
